F1™ 2016 Game - Baku City Circuit

Great news! Today I’ve received a small package from the Codemasters - the UK based software company which is the developer and publisher of the official videogame of the 2016 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™. The package turned out to be a copy of the F1 2016 videogame that my son Saleh was very exited about.

The reason why I am writing about the videogame in my photography blog is that I have a direct connection to this game as a photographer, well... at least to its part related to Azerbaijan. As most of you probably know, this year Azerbaijan with capital city Baku, became the host of the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe. The Codemasters - as the developer of the official videogame of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship included Baku City Circuit to its latest game release. So, I got an assignment from the Codemasters to take the photographs of the race track, buildings, walls, trees along the track, as well as all items such as road signs, bins, textures etc. visible from the track. It was challenging but really very interesting experience for me as a photographer. By the end of the assignment several thousands of images had been taken, properly coded and sent to Codemasters. All these images were used by the company's graphic designers and landscape artists to develop a realistic 3D model of the city and the track in the game.

Finally, the game was released on 19 August 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and I really feel proud to be part of this great project. By the way, you can buy a copy of the game here: Formula1 game
