Winter Portrait In The Studio

So, after a very long break I am back to blogging. This time I was asked by ArtMax to demonstrate how to shoot a winter portrait in the studio. ArtMax is a new photography vlog launched by two talented young Azerbaijani photographers Ayaz and Suleyman.

Studio Portraits Campaign - Zemfira

Zemfira is a photographer and a friend of mine but this time she wanted to try herself as a model and see how it is being on the other side of the lens. She arrived in the studio already prepared and I knew that it is going to be a nice, moody retro style portrait session.

Studio Portraits Campaign - Mesi

As you probably remember few months ago I launched new free Studio Portraits campaign. Mesi was one of the several applicants who responded to my casting call. We met last week, planned the session and set the date. Here are the portraits that we made this week in the studio.

Vintage Camera Poster

After renewing my small studio I was looking for some nice posters to decorate it. Unfortunately, I was not able to find a free and high resolution vintage posters online so decided to make my own. Since I have a descent collection of vintage cameras I thought it would be great to use one of them for the poster. I am not as good in Photoshop as in Lightroom but with the help of few online tutorials I finally was able to create something that will look nice on my studio wall.   

Time Capsule Project

Last two weeks I spent with a group of creative people attending the workshop called "Redeeming the Everyday". The workshop was conducted by artists Rossella Emanuele and Mervyn Arthur and organized by Yarat. This workshop invited participants to consider how art can be made using material from the everyday world. We discussed recent trends in photography and contemporary art and involved in practical workshops, one-on-one discussions and group tutorials. 

Meet Mardan

Meet Mardan. He is 3 months old and he is great! He remained active during the entire session trying all different kind of expressions on his face. I also planned to take few more photos of him sleeping but despite all my plans he refused to take a nap even after he has been fed. So, here are few portraits that he allowed me to take.
